It detected the most elusive organism on Earth
Zoologists from the University of British Columbia for the first time discovered the body, whose existence was known, but it has long remained elusive - just diplonemidu (diplonemid). On reaching the scientists said the publication Gizmodo.

Diplonemidy - one of the largest plankton organisms were discovered about a decade ago by the discovery of a single gene, isolated from the marine specimens. They have long been ignored by biologists, until it became clear that they are very common in the ocean. However, until now diplonemidy not been caught and were not observed in their natural habitat.

First pictures of just managed to make zoologists, who collected the sample in the deep waters off the coast of California. It was found that diplonemidy include various kinds having a relatively large genome, most of which is formed by junk DNA. They are characterized by a fast metabolism and food source of algae and other microscopic organisms.

According to scientists, the number may reach diplonemid trillion. It is likely that these simple play an important role in marine ecosystems.

Recycle or non-coding regions of DNA called DNA whose functions are not yet installed. It includes a sequence of intron and the portions between genes and repeats
